Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP) Program

Members of Purina Pro Club whose national parent club participates in the Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP) Program may earn funding for canine health studies, education and/or rescue efforts that will benefit their breed. In 2002, the first year of the PPCP Program, 62 clubs earned more than $84,000.

Through the PPCP Program, Purina and the AKC Canine Health Foundation work together to help parent clubs address priority health concerns for their breeds and areas not previously funded.

Here's how the PPCP Program works: Pro Club members redeem weight circles from bags of participating Purina brand dog foods. Purina tracks these weight circle submissions, and for every $100 of qualifying weight circle points earned by Pro Club members, Purina donates $10 to the participating national parent breed club.

Points are accumulated throughout a calendar year, and in February, a check representing 10 percent of the value of the submitted weight circles for the year is evenly split between the participating national parent breed club and the AKC Canine Health Foundation. The donation that goes to the AKC Canine Health Foundation is eligible to be matched up to 100 percent by the Canine Health Foundation if it meets the Foundation's funding guidelines.

The goal of Purina and the AKC Canine Health Foundation is to provide funding and resources to help breed clubs accomplish more in learning the causes of health conditions that may shorten a dog's life. Ultimately, the knowledge gained from canine health studies may help dogs live longer, healthier lives.

The following is a letter from Dr. James Kilman, former President of the American Boxer Club:

Dear ABC member:
Canine health is important to all of us. Eradicating diseases that afflict dogs to help them live longer and healthier lives is a key priority. That is why the American Boxer Club, Inc. is participating in the Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP) Program. Purina is the first pet food manufacturer to step forward to financially support National Parent Breed Clubs to help us raise money to fund canine health studies.

The PPCP Program works through Purina's loyalty program, Pro Club. Pro Club members who are also members of the American Boxer Club, Inc., or an affiliate club, will earn dollars for our club to be used for health studies, rescue, and/or educational efforts. As a member of Pro Club, you earn valuable Purina Points for every purchased pound of participating Purina brand dog foods. The PPCP Program allows our members to earn 10% of the value of all pints from valid weight circles credited to their Pro Club accounts four our breed club. For example, for every $100 worth of qualifying weight circle point earned by our Pro Club members, Purina will donate $10 to the American Boxer Club, Inc.

CANINE HEALTH MATCHING FUNDS
The CHF has agreed that PPCP-generated funds that are placed by the club in the breeds' Donor Advised Fund are eligible to be matched up to 100% based on the Foundation's guidelines. That means that more research money can be applied against diseases that afflict Boxers or diseases like cancer that impact all breeds.
